A grade you can act on

Most scorers hand you a number and a CTA. This one tells you exactly what to change before you hit publish.

10 content-shape checks

Direct answer up top, question headings, clean structure, scannable paragraphs, lists, specifics, sources, FAQ, depth, and a clear definition — each weighted into one grade.

A fix for every miss

Not just a number. Each check that fails comes with a specific, do-this-next fix — several linked straight to the tool that solves it.

What a high grade does — and doesn't — mean

This grade measures content shape: how easy it is for an AI to lift a clean answer from your draft. A high grade removes the structural reasons you'd be skipped — buried answers, walls of text, no extractable structure, vague claims.

It is necessary but not sufficient. Whether an AI actually cites you also depends on two things this tool can't see from a text box: your domain's authority(third-party citations, reviews, mentions) and whether there's real search demandfor the question. Shape the content here, then build the authority — we won't sell you a guarantee no tool can make.

Frequently asked questions

What the grade means, how it's scored, and what it can't promise.

What does the grade actually measure?
Content shape — how easy it is for an AI assistant to lift a clean answer from your draft. It scores 10 signals: a direct answer up top, question-style headings, clear heading structure, scannable paragraphs, lists/tables, specific facts and numbers, outbound sources, an FAQ section, sufficient depth, and a plain definition early on. Each is weighted and rolled into a 0–100 grade.
Does a high grade guarantee I'll get cited?
No — and we won't pretend otherwise. Structure is necessary but not sufficient. Whether an AI actually cites you also depends on your domain's authority and whether anyone is asking the question in the first place. A high grade means your content is shaped to be quoted; it removes the structural reasons you'd be skipped. Authority (third-party citations, reviews) and real search demand are the other half.
How is this different from the AI Citation Readiness tool?
Citation Readiness is a site-level self-assessment — a questionnaire about your whole domain (schema, llms.txt, directories, brand authority). The Content Grader scores one specific piece of content you're about to publish. Use the Grader pre-publish on each draft; use Citation Readiness to triage your whole site.
Do I have to paste markdown?
Markdown gives the most accurate grade because it can detect your headings (lines starting with #), lists, and links. Plain text still works for the word-count, paragraph, specifics, and definition checks — but the heading-based checks need markdown (or you can add # to your headings before pasting).
Is my content uploaded anywhere?
No. The entire analysis runs in your browser — nothing is sent to a server, logged, or stored. You can paste an unpublished draft safely. There's no signup and no rate limit.
Where do the checks come from?
They're the content-shape signals that show up repeatedly in how AI assistants choose what to quote — clean heading hierarchy, answer-first paragraphs, extractable lists, concrete data — and they mirror the content checks in the FixAEO scan engine. Each failed check links to the tool that helps you fix it.
Is it free?
Yes — completely free, no account, no limits. Click 'Copy report' to take a markdown summary of your grade and fixes into your editor or team doc.
