What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets an AI assistant call external tools and data. The FixAEO MCP server exposes your AI-search data as tools, so your assistant can answer questions about it directly — no dashboard, no exports.

Do I need a paid plan?

Yes — the MCP server is a paid feature. You connect it with an API key from a paid plan. Free accounts still get free scans and the public tools; MCP is where the multi-engine data becomes callable from your assistant.

Is my data safe?

Yes. The server is read-only — it can't trigger scans or change anything. It authenticates with an API key you create and can revoke any time, and it only ever returns your own account's data.

Which assistants work?

Claude (Desktop and Code), Cursor, and any MCP-compatible client work today using your API key. ChatGPT works via a custom connector on plans that support developer mode.

Where do I get an API key?

In your FixAEO account settings → Security → API keys. Create a key, copy it once, and paste it into your assistant's MCP config as the bearer token.

What can it not do?

It's read-only by design. It won't start scans, edit brands, publish content, or spend credits. It's a fast way to query the data you already have.
